On Wednesday, October 28th the sorority Delta Zeta held an alcohol forum, to tie in with alcohol awareness week. The forum consisted of three people who were on panel. The four people were Sasha Gregory, the wellness coordinator at the health center, officer Rick Thompson and senior, sociology major Taylor Hidelt.
To start the forum, Hidelt told of her experiences with drinking and driving. One night when her and her friend were consuming alcohol, they decided to drive back to Farmville from Fredericksburg. They got lost along the way. It was at this point Hidelt took over the wheel and abrubtly hit something. Then the police became involved. Whilst Hidelt was in the police station she found out that she had run over a person. She tells her story so the students at Longwood can listen and learn to plan ahead when drinking. When anyone drinks they are setting themself up for major risks. Risks that that cannot only have an effect on the indiviudal but others as well. Hildet's story conveyed a lifelong message all college students should be aware of: actions have consequences.
