Ladies and gentlemen, beware and prepare! No-Shave November is here. The month of scruffiness for men across the United States and Canada has begun. The last acceptable date for men to shave was Sat., Oct. 31. However, this is not an occasion exclusive to men.
Widely known as a "month-long man fest," No-Shave November is a self-explanatory tradition amongst men that includes more participants each year. While this month long event is growing in popularity, there are of course some basic rules that all participants should follow.
Truthfully, there are not many rules to follow. First, there is absolutely NO shaving during the month of November, of course. Shaving immediately eliminates you from the festivities of beardedness. Also, grooming methods such as waxing or trimming or any other process of hair-removal is prohibited.
You may be asking yourself, what are some the benefits of some of No-Shave November? First, what woman does not love a real man showing off his high level of testosterone? There is always the perk of having members of the opposite-sex fawn over a well-groomed male with excessive facial hair.
Of course, this is an excellent program for college students, as it will save them a fair amount of money. Think of not purchasing razors, shaving cream or any other necessary tools required to maintain grooming for a whole month! The savings could be limitless.
Additionally, there is always the added benefit of more rest. Not having to shave for an entire month can help students catch up on some much need sleep since they will not have to wake up early enough to shave.
On average, a male's beard grows 5.5 inches per year, so the sacrifice of shaving may not be truly considered a determent to one's physical appearance. Besides, the average men will spend 140 days shaving in their lifetime, so why not try to scale the number down?
Just in case you are not already thoroughly convinced to participate, www.biggerbetterbeards.org gives men ten reasons to grow a beard:
• It instantly turns any man into a bada**
• Every beautiful woman will want to touch, stroke and perhaps frolic in your beard
• Great for sledding
• It makes you appear smarter
• In a time of crisis, people always
flock to a bearded person
• It makes for a handy disguise
• In emergencies, it can keep both you and your friends warm
• Easy use when sailing
• You can hides thing in it such as weapons, tools, and snacks
• Good for smoke signals
For those men, who cannot seem to find the time or machismo to grow a beard there are also options such as mustaches, goatees, sideburns, or sun patches.
