The highly anticipated "Faculty's Got Talent" show that was scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, in Jarman Auditorium has been canceled. It was being put on to raise money for the newly-established Todd Miller Scholarship.
In an e-mail sent to the five faculty contestants on Tuesday, March 3, senior Jillian Klein expressed her "great regret" for the cancellation. Klein said there were "too few participants" and because of that, the sponsors of the show could not "ask students to pay money to see a show that will only have two professors performing."
Klein also expressed that the faculty "keep [their] ideas for future use" because the College of Business and Economics Student Advisory Board plans and hopes to reschedule the show for the spring of 2010 and "correct mistakes that were made this time around."
In a separate e-mail to students, Klein regretted having to cancel the show. She stated that the event must be canceled due to too few participants and low involvement. Klein wrote, "Thank you for your support in the Todd Miller Scholarship if you were planning to attend and I am very sorry for
the inconvenience."
The faculty that were scheduled to perform included Assistant Professor of Communication Studies Jeff Halliday; Dr. Steven Samaras, assistant professor of management; Dr. Melanie Marks, professor of economics; Dr. Roman Cech, assistant professor of economics and finance; and Rodney Williams, the dance company's artist-in-residence.
