Over the last few weeks, some flyers have been showing up on the ground floor of the Ruffner building. Now yes, while flyers are in fact allowed down there, these flyers were different. These flyers have a picture of Uncle Sam on them with the quote below it saying "I WANT YOU! To Live Free, To Not Be Afraid, To Question Aurthoirty, To Be Politically Active." However, this flyer is not legally on the bulletin boards by Longwood rules and regulations because it failed to get a stamp from the Student Union office stating that the flyer is approved for posting. And on top of that, I have taken down two of these flyers personally. One was put onto a bulletin board using a push pin. However, the second flyer was attached using DUCT TAPE to a Ruffner directory sign next to the ground floor elevator. This is not only against Longwood rules and regulations, but could have damaged Longwood property should the Duct Tape have done damage to the directory sign. So whoever you are that is putting up these signs, I will give you these 4 easy steps to putting up a flyer so that your message can be heard legally:

1. Take your flyer to Lankford Student Union Room 201 and have a Student Union employee stamp the flyer as approved for posting

2. If you would like others to discuss this matter with you, put your name and e-mail or phone number so we can contact you and help you in your pursuit to live free

3. Use push pins or staples to attach your flyer onto an approved hanging area (Dining Hall wall in hallways or bulletin boards)

4. Learn how to spell the word "Authority"…you are at Longwood University and should be able to spell/and or know how to use spell check on your flyer

1. Did you consider that who ever is posting these flyers is intentionally not getting them approved?
2. Did you consider that who ever is posting these flyers doesn't want people to discuss these flyers with them? Instead, maybe the flyers purpose is to promote discussion amongst others. (Continued…)
