Country Singer Lee Brice

On the official Lee Brice Web site, his voice is described as "honey trickling through lines of melody etched in leather - and in the images it conjures, of 'country girls and redneck boys.'" Although I'm not too sure what this means, I do know that his music is ingrained with that special country feel. You know, that feeling of lazy summers and nights out at the bar that only the country genre possesses.

Although Brice lists his influences as everybody from Coldplay to Whitney Houston, he is all country music. He sings about small town life in South Carolina, country girls and nights out with Carolina boys.

His most popular song to date, "She Ain't Right," is about a wild girl who Brice is dating, describing her as "always up to something, crazy got nothin' on her." In "Upper Middle Class White Trash," Brice jokes about winning millions of dollars in the lottery but still being the same white-trash guy.

When Brice isn't crooning about good times, he concentrates on more serious, heartfelt themes. For example, in "Airport Song (Hard To Figure Out)" he talks about his experience in a security line at the airport. While he's standing around getting more and more frustrated that he might miss his plane, he realizes the woman behind him is sobbing over her husband who just died. He quickly understands that he has to take a step back sometimes and just be thankful for what he has.

Country fans out there won't be disappointed. "Picture of Me" is Brice's first CD, and already his star is beginning to rise in the country scene. Watch for him on the large stage at Oktoberfest. He'll be playing from 5:15 p.m. 6:15 p.m.
