Lancer Productions (LP) is the primary student planning organization on Longwood's campus and they plan many events for students to participate in during the course of the school year. However, putting on many different events a year can get costly. Cameron Patterson, newly elected SGA (Student Government Association) president and president of LP said, "We put on about 80 events a year and most of it is showing the movies on Friday and Sunday," But does having a lot of events equal high attendance for these events? According to LP's web site, the attendance numbers for their events have not been updated since Spring 2006. (0) comments

The Chair in the Corner

Fuqua Middle School Poetry

There is a chair, In a dusty, old corner, Of an ancient, abandoned house. It is creaky and crooked, Faded and chipped. It is sitting, broken, In an ancient abandoned house. It has been owned by a child, Who painted it blue. It has been used by an old man, Who sat there all day. (1) comment

The Space Under the Stairs

Fuqua Middle School Poerty

There is a space under the stairs where nobody goes, What is under there nobody knows, There are scratches in the day and thumps at night, Whenever they happen it gives me a fright!!, I got courageous one day and went to take a look, At what was in that little nook, What I saw you won't believe, I thought I was in a dream!!, There were monsters with hats on jumping around, And groups of monkeys making weird sounds, There was also green slime oozing from the wall, Everyone was down there having a ball, I went towards a pig looking animal thing, I tried to talk to it but it started to sing, So I turned to a bug looking thing-a-ma-jig, It told me to go ask the pig, So I went to sit at a small round table, Sitting there was my sister Mabel!!, I asked her what was happening here, And into her face I started to peer, Because to my surprise I saw her smile, She said come on sit down for a while, I did and asked her what's all this?, She said this is the land or forget-me-not sis, I said okay like I understood, She started to explain like I knew she would, This place in the stairs had been here forever, Through the wars, and fights, even horrible weather, Whenever you come here you cannot forget, Everything that you've seen in it, It's your own little world from the world, Around your finger it is curled, Here there are no rules and that's how it shall stay, During the night and during the day, No one is like Mabel and I, Some of these things have only one eye, I met the horse slash lady bug, And then a peanut colored slug, I also saw a glowing worm, Plus my good friend M.
