Lancers Come Out of the Gate Strong in '08-'09

The Longwood men's basketball team started its season Friday night, Nov. 14, in Willett Hall with an 87-44 thrashing of the Cavaliers from UVA Wise. The home side was packed with excited students, families who watched the Lancers take an early 14-4 lead. Senior Ryan Bogan scored eight consecutive points with back-to-back threes and a jumper. The Lancer men's soccer team finished the 2008 season tied for eighth place on the final National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association (NSCAA)/Adidas NCAA North Atlantic Regional rankings, as announced by the NSCAA. This was after the team took the second ever Longwood Division I conference title Sunday with their 1-0 shut-out against top-seeded Adelphi University in the championship game of the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) tournament. Head Coach Jeff Fisher says there still taking it one game at a time

The Tennessee Titans are out to a surprising 10-0 start, the only unbeaten team left in the National Football League. It was around this time last year when talk arose, with the New England Patriots 10-0, about going undefeated. The only time a team has ever gone through a season undefeated was the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who posted record of 17-0. (0) comments
