Last week voters in California passed Proposition 8, which redefines marriage. The California State Constitution will now read, "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." Fire safety inspections have once again come and gone. Perhaps you've noticed a missing extension cord or plug-in? What you might not know if you decided to ignore the e-mail is that this year students will not be getting back their cords or other items. According to Fire Safety Office Ben Sears, "The reason we gave them back last year is because it was the first year we were trying to get the student body aware of the items they could and could not have. Somali Pirates Hijack Saudi Tanker Loaded with OilNews.yahoo.com reported that Somali pirates hijacked a Saudi supertanker loaded with crude oil hundreds of miles off the coast of East Africa on Saturday. The ship, MV Sirius Star, was a 25-crew tanker that came in at 1,080 feet and was carrying about two million barrels of crude oil. (0) comments

One Bright Spot in the Dismal Economy: Less Money Needed For Gas

As I'm looking on CNN and Yahoo for news, I keep seeing dismal news about the national and world economy, wildfires in California, helping the floundering auto industry, and Citigroup expecting to cut over 50,000 jobs. The unemployment rate surpassed a 14-year high in October, and over 95 percent of economic analysts say that the country is currently in a recession, and we won't get out of it for at least the next two quarters or more.
